Finding Relaxation Between Big Holidays

The holidays can be tough for a multitude of reasons. One of the biggest reasons for me is simply all the running around this time of year requires. That’s why it’s important to take a step back every once in a while, and remind yourself that it’s okay to take care of yourself.

Need some ideas? Here are my top six ways to relax this holiday season.

  • Take a Hot Bath
  • Sometimes a hot bath and a good book are all you need to transport yourself to a happier place. My personal suggestion? Add in some epsom salt or a bath bomb to really treat yourself.

  • Go to the Gym
  • I, like most of you, have a love hate relationship with the gym. However, I cannot deny that I always feel more at ease after a good workout.

  • Go See a Movie
  • Going crazy? Get out of the house. Movies are great because they force you to stop thinking about your life for a whole two hours. Give it a try.

  • Call a Family Member
  • Even though she drives me crazy, my sister always knows how to make me feel better.

  • Buy Something Nice for Yourself
  • We recommend stationary.

  • Clean
  • As crazy as it sounds, everything looks clearer in a clean, organized environment.

    I wish you all a stress-free holiday!

    Finding Something for Everyone

Thanksgiving is only one day away, and that means it’s time to get those last minute details in order. Although Thanksgiving is all about giving thanks and being grateful, it is the food that often becomes the main focal point of the day.

That’s why, on the eve of the Thanksgiving meal, we recommend double checking everyone on your guest list for any food allergies or dietary restrictions. We also recommend checking on those picky eaters in the family, just to make sure you’ve got something for them too.

Once we’ve finalized our Thanksgiving meal, we always like to make sure that we have fun activities for everyone in the family. Our personal favorites include Monopoly, Jenga and puzzles, but it’s all about making sure there is something for everyone to enjoy.

From our family to yours, we want to say thank you for being our customers! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Keeping Your Family Close During the Holidays

The holidays are a time of togetherness, but it can be hard to achieve togetherness when your family lives in different places. We have some great tips for making the holidays a time of gratitude regardless of where you or your loved ones are. Here’s our advice for keeping your family close, even if they’re far in distance.

    Make a List

The holidays are a hectic time for everyone. Regardless of how good your memory is, a list can be a helpful tool to make sure you don’t forget anyone.

Not only will lists help you remember who to send cards to, but also help you organize key events and gift ideas for each family member.

    Give Yourself Enough Time

We know how fast time flies at the end of the year, don’t let it slip up on you. During the holidays it’s important to make sure that you’re ahead of the game.

When sending out holiday cards, we suggest ordering them a month in advance and heading to the post office two weeks before the big day.

    Keep it Personal

In the age of technology, it can be very tempting to send an email or text to our loved ones. However, we know how special it is to receive a handwritten note or a call on the phone. These gestures not only foster a close relationship, they show your loved ones how much you value them.

With Tickled Pink Paper + Ink’s original, hand-illustrated holiday options you can pick out the perfect card for your friends or family. Check them out in the shop today. http://tickledpinkpaperink.com/collections/cards-holidays

Free Printable: Share Easter treats in this cute box

Having a Easter party and need treat boxes for each of your guests? Here is a cute one that is the perfect size to hold a few of your favorite Easter candies. I always have a hard time choosing between Cadbury chocolate eggs or Hershey's. Or oh, wait, maybe malt balls. Ugh--Easter candy is so so yummy and addictive.

    Happy Easter!

Free printable: Give a hug this Valentine's Day!

    Valentine huggers

My sister runs a daycare and I love making cute things to help her celebrate all the holidays with her kids. For Valentine's, we are using this cute lil' huggy bunny. I thought I would share it here too in case you needed to give a hug (and chocolate) to the special people in your life. Place a chocolate heart on his chest and then using a glue dot, bend his arms around it to give it a hug.

     Happy Valentine's Day!

Free printable to help with your Thanksgiving table

When my children were younger, we used to spend Thanksgiving morning on a neighborhood walk collecting beautiful leaves and then come home and use them to decorate the table for dinner. I loved getting them involved in the celebration. We always have fun coming up with special "tablescapes" for each occasion. This year, we are watercoloring the leaves and I thought I would share this download in case you wanted to add them to your table as well. Click on the image to download.

    Happy Thanksgiving!

The Tickled Pink Guide to the best summer BBQ

Summer is coming to an end, so what better way to say goodbye to hot days and long nights than a traditional summer BBQ?

A BBQ is the perfect opportunity to get all your friends and family together for one last summer soiree. So if you’re going to do it, you better do it right!

Here’s some ways to make it the best one ever:

    Pick a simple theme:

Before your BBQ, pick a theme or even just a color scheme for your decor. This a simple, inexpensive way to make it look like you spent more time and money on your party than you actually did. One of our favorite blogs, Hello, Beautiful, has five theme ideas to get you started. Your local Dollar Tree, discount retailer or party store will have cups, plates and table covers. Then, to tie the whole theme together, we can customize a banner for you.

Cook the main course and have your guests bring the sides:

PSA: It is more than OK to ask for help from your guests. Just because your hosting doesn’t mean that you have to do all the cooking and miss out on the fun of the party. Ask your guests to bring their favorite side dish, and you prepare the main course. Who knows, you may try something new that you can add to your own cookbook.

You’ll probably be grilling for the main course (a BBQ obviously wouldn’t be complete without one), so here are some grilling tips for any dish you decide to fire up on the grill!

    Prepare menu in advance:

Once you decide a theme and a menu, a grocery list is a must. No need to stress out last minute because you forgot the hot dog buns! Keep it all in one place with this handy and adorable notepad.

    Drinks for the kids:

Chances are the adults will be bringing their own “special” beverages, so why not give the kids something fun to drink too! Nothing makes a kid happier than making them feel like they are one of the adults! We found this great copycat recipe of Sonic's Ocean Water that will keep the kids happy and away from mom and dad’s drink.

    Dessert:

And of course we have saved the best for last – dessert. Don’t forget to send your guests home with something sweet at the end of the night. A party pleaser for all are cupcakes – I mean who doesn’t love a good cupcake? They’re simple, easy to grab and just enough to satisfy a sweet tooth. Check out this recipe to top off the night. And to make it even better, our cupcake toppers are a delight

Enjoy the rest of your summer!
